ScareTissue: When did you start acting?

Mary Cruz: I had the acting bug from a very young age, It is seriously all I remember wanting to do! I have been acting since I was about eight years old. My first big break was when I cast as a lead in the production, Crimson at the Bloomsbury Theatre in London. This was a real dream come true for me because the Bloomsbury Theatre is one of the most well known Theatres in London and has been home to some great stars that I really admire. I was then cast in Who’s dog is it anyway? BBC XCHANGE, which was incredible. The show was extremely successful in Europe.

ScareTissue: You have been worked on some big projects and with some very famous actors. Which have been your favorites?

Mary Cruz: Probably performing at The Cockpit Theatre in the production of, Identity. Daniel Craig (James Bond) has always been a supporter of mine and he actually attended on opening night, he congratulated me and told me that I gave a  “breathtaking performance” which was a very inspirational message for me. I was also so excited to be featured on The Real alongside Nick from the Backstreet Boys. Working with Whizz Khalifa, Amber Rose, Mack Wilds on the commercial, Under the influence was also a great experience.

ScareTissue: We know that you were asked to perform for Matt Damon, George Clooney and Don Cheadle’s Charity. How’d that happen? What was that like?

Mary Cruz: I was approached by the charity and was asked to be the main entertainer because of my successful career and the idea that I could be a positive role model and great brand ambassador. I was really thrilled because I have always looked up to Matt Damon and George Clooney. I loved performing for their charity, Not On Our Watch. I did a cabaret style performance at their Gala in London in 2013, which was an incredible experience. The show was covered by major publications and I also did an exclusive interview for Fashion TV Italia.

ScareTissue: Your new movie, Confessions of Isabella has a pretty epic cast. What can you tell us?

Mary Cruz: Confessions of Isabella is based on a volatile and abusive relationship but focuses on the power and strength of the two main female characters. It is a thriller that shows women in a very positive light and the ending is very unexpected so stay tuned! The movie is produced by Trina McGee (Star of Boy Meets World) and directed by Marcello Thedford (Star of Dangerous Minds). I am so excited for the release! It has already received a lot of great press and will be showcased at major film festivals.

ScareTissue: There are a lot of British Actresses that look up to you because of your success. What advice would you give to up and coming Actors?

Mary Cruz: I think that it is important to know your strengths as an actor and to take advantage of them. You should also make sure that you have had sufficient training and that you are fully prepare before going out for auditions, meetings etc. But mostly, don’t give up! The industry is changing and becoming multi ethnic so it is a very exciting time to get started. Follow your dreams no matter what!

I've been a fan of horror and slasher movies for as long as I can remember. I consider the original Halloween to be the best horror movie of all time and my guilty pleasure horror flick would be The Exorcist III. You can find me on Twitter at @406Northlane where I'm sure I'll offend you at least once a day.
