Sitting down at my computer tonight and I’ve got to say… I’m sort of bummed. This was a post that I was supposed to have put out weeks ago and life just sort of got in the way. For that I sincerely apologize. I’m thrilled to say that I’m coming to you with some GOOD news. The upcoming Scream fan film Red Right Hand was fully funded and will be coming to fruition soon!
This is an ambitious project that takes classic slasher-horror tropes and twists them with an introspective psychological layer. Set from the perspective of a Ghostface killer, Red Right Hand explores the reality of what it would be like for someone to lose themselves enough to become a costumed serial killer. The film is shot with a mix of cinematography techniques; some scenes will be shot in a traditional cinematic style, while others will be presented as found footage, giving it a feel that is both sophisticated, and candid. We will also be featuring an original soundtrack, including a score unique to our film as well as indie covers of various popular songs.
There’s no footage yet, but they do have an 8-minute proof of concept short film that they made over the summer of last year. It was made on a very low-budget, and a lot of corners had to be cut, but it is a good early representation of what our final product will be based on:
As I said in my intro, I’m THRILLED to say that this film has been fully funded and is in production. You can check out updates here: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/redrighthandmovie/red-right-hand-a-scream-fan-film/posts
When the film is available you can be sure I’ll watch it and give you a review!
Special thanks (and apologies) to Matthew Schuff for reaching out. I can’t wait to see the finished product!
