I got an email the other day from Amazon with a one word subject line: GUT. I thought this was interesting because I’d just finished up reading JP’s review here on the site – Gut (2012) – Some Things You Can’t Unsee. Is Amazon looking at my browsing history? That’s another question for another day, but I digress.
When I opened the email I realized that it was a regular email that I’d set up. You know the ones, “You may be intersted in these items” sort of thing. This particular email was a list of Mystery and Suspense Movies & TV Shows. I’m not sure I’d put most of these in taht category, but wanted to pass it along as I thought was rather intrguing that a movie we’d recently reviewed showed up at the top of my email inbox. (descriptions from IMDB)
- GUT (2012)
Family man Tom has seen something he can’t forget, a mysterious video with an ugly secret that soon spreads into his daily life and threatens to dismantle everything around him. - Curtains (1983)
Six young actresses auditioning for a movie role at a remote mansion are targeted by a mysterious masked murderer. - Cold in July (2014)
When a protective father meets a murderous ex-con, both need to deviate from the path they are on as they soon find themselves entangled in a downwards spiral of lies and violence while having to confront their own inner psyche. - The Wolverine (2013)
When Wolverine is summoned to Japan by an old acquaintance, he is embroiled in a conflict that forces him to confront his own demons. - Byzantium (2012)
Residents of a coastal town learn, with deathly consequences, the secret shared by the two mysterious women who have sought shelter at a local resort.
I can honesly say that I’ve never seen any of these flicks and I’m typically pretty leery of these marketing emails. That said, simply base on the descriptions, with the exception of The Wolverine I’d say they’d all be flicks I’d be interested in. And don’t get me wrong… I’m a HUGE Wolverine fan… but I’ve heard such terrible things about this particular installment that I’m going to stay away.
Anyone know anything about Curtains? It’s got a BAD ASS movie poster and base on the description it sounds like it’d be right up my alley!
Editor’s Note: I see Curtains is on Writer / Producer Kevin Sommerfield’s Top 10 Horror Movies list. Now I’ve GOT to watch it!
