Melted (2020) – Short Stuff, Deep Thoughts

It’s been a while since I’ve done any sort of actual ‘review’. Candidly, when I look back at my output of reviews this past year it’s shameful. But through this crazy thing we’re living in, I’ll keep plugging and doing my best. I hope you’re all hanging in there.

I’m thrilled tonight to share the horror short Melted (2020) by Nikki Chapman. In her own words, “This CG animated film depicts a macabre girl lamenting about the inevitability of death after getting a melting cartoon character popsicle.”

It has won Best Animated Short at Hollywood Horrorfest and was selected for Horrible Imaginings Film Festival and American Horror Film Festival.

Thoughts & Recommendation

It would be silly of me to give any sort of a plot summary for a film that lasts less than two minutes. Suffice to say Nikki’s intro says it all. This is a BEAUTIFUL film and there’s no mistaking why it’s winning awards. In the 90 seconds the film takes believe it or not you can get invested in the characters. And like all great films, this one will make you think. ESPECIALLY in this crazy 2020 we’re living in.

Do yourself a favor – watch this film and then share the hell out of it. It’s worth your time.

I've been a fan of horror and slasher movies for as long as I can remember. I consider the original Halloween to be the best horror movie of all time and my guilty pleasure horror flick would be The Exorcist III. You can find me on Twitter at @406Northlane or TikTok @406Northlane where I'm sure I'll offend you at least once a day.
