Universal Sets Release Dates For Krampus & Spectral

Merry KrampusUniversal Pictures will be celebrating Christmas with their evil Santa Claus movie, Krampus, by releasing the Legendary Pictures’ anthology on Wednesday, November 25, 2015, setting it up for a long Thanksgiving weekend. The film, a twisted horror comedy set around the Christmas holiday, is to be directed by Trick ‘r Treat‘s Michael Dougherty. It’s based on an ancient legend about a pagan demon who punishes the wicked.

Uni’s other Legendary horror pic, Spectral, will be haunting Manhattan on August 12, 2016. Nic Mathieu is directing the pic that stars Emily Mortimer, James Badge Dale, Max Martini and Cory Hardrict. As previously reported, the premise of the project is centered on a modern-day, militaristic and gritty approach to fighting the supernatural. Sources say the pitch has been described as a darker and more serious take on a Ghostbusters-like story, with a plot that revolves around a special ops group formed to bring down evil ghosts that have taken over Manhattan.
