The anthology collects 26 original winter horror stories designed to be read one night at a time throughout December.
Long Winter Nights, the seasonal horror storytelling series created by Matt Hill, Chelsea Sutton, and Lisa Sanaye Dring, is bringing its first season to print with a new Kickstarter campaign for LONG WINTER NIGHTS: A Horror Advent Anthology.
Inspired by the tradition of telling ghost stories at Christmastime, Long Winter Nights released an original horror story every day from December 1 through Christmas during its first season. The series has since been named a two-time 2026 Signal Awards finalist, for Genre: Indie Podcast and Most Innovative Video Podcast, and won two Silver W3 Awards, for Video Podcast Series and Best Indie Podcast.
Now, all 25 stories are being collected in print for the first time, along with the series’ secret Krampusnacht episode, for 26 tales of winter terror.
The anthology is designed to work like an advent calendar bound as a book: readers can enjoy one story each night as Christmas approaches, encountering hungry ghosts, mechanical Santas, strange winter traditions, holiday serial killers, ancient things in the snow, and other horrors along the way.
The Kickstarter will fund the book’s first print run while helping support production of Long Winter Nights Season Two. The project is created entirely by human writers, performers, artists, designers, musicians, and filmmakers, with no generative AI used in the podcast, videos, or anthology.
Backers can support the project digitally, receive the physical anthology, or, at a limited high-level tier, sponsor an episode of Season Two and help shape a future story by naming a character and selecting a winter horror creature to appear.
