Synopsis
For young Faye, she is serving a life sentence for murder, a sentence she accepts but a crime she can’t remember. The knife was in her hands and the evidence, overwhelming. Faye’s detached outlook is shifted when her cellmate Penny drags her to the prison psychic, Valda. When the realms of the past and present are merged, Faye begins to see that her past is still very much in her present. In a sordid tale of forbidden romance, deceit and a whole load of blood, guts, and gore, can Faye, with the help of her allies, change her own destiny through her past life as the daring, sword wielding, heroine, Rapunzel?
Director’s Statement – Jason Wright
Rapunzel’s Revenge is a tale of forbidden love and revenge. I was inspired by the other horror fairytales that have hit the market and done well and wanted to make something even better. I like my films to have full stories and not just have blood, guts, and gore for the fun of it and Rapunzel’s Revenge meets that criteria. The script is deep, the characters have been developed extraordinarily well. The story jumps between two time periods, something I have always loved within film making and you don’t find out right until the end why this happens. The biggest challenge making this film was the medieval style; ensuring the costumes worked, the language used was correct… we flew to France to film the medieval segment… the biggest challenge of my career, to date. We raised all funds made for this project via IndieGoGo and we are still raising funds now. Anything raised at this point will go towards securing costume and location for the modern-day segment, and towards the edit.
