Grant Niezgodski is an actor from South Bend, Indiana known for Reality (2011), Three Tears on Bloodstained Flesh (2014) and Volumes of Blood (2015) where he played Norman in the “13 After Midnight” segment. We recently had an opportunity to interview him and we’re thrilled to share that conversation with you today.
ScareTissue: Tell us about yourself.
Grant Niezgodski: My name is Grant Niezgodski. I currently live in Chicago and am a recent graduate of Indiana University with degrees in Theatre and Marketing. I’m a huge fan of movies and sports and certainly love to act any chance I get.
ScareTissue: Volumes of Blood is a horror anthology (and a great one at that!) – before working on this project were you a horror fan? What’s your favorite horror film?
Grant Niezgodski: Before working on Volumes of Blood I was a fan of horror films but I must admit that it is not my favorite genre. If I had to choose one I would say The Shining.
ScareTissue: How did you get involved in the project?
Grant Niezgodski: I got involved in the project through Jakob Bilinski. He called me up one day and asked if I would like to be a part of it and I was very happy to say yes.
ScareTissue: How was the location of the library chosen? Did location help/hinder your particular piece of the anthology?
Grant Niezgodski: I’m not totally sure how they came to the conclusion of the location of the library but it did not in any way hinder the piece I was in. I thought the location was perfect for the story we were trying to tell and the feeling of the piece overall.
ScareTissue: What’s your next project?
Grant Niezgodski: The next project I am working on is “Cyrano de Bergerac” at the Cincinnati Shakespeare Company. I am playing Christian and the show opens September 11th and runs through October 3rd.
ScareTissue: If you had it to do over again, what would you change?
Grant Niezgodski: If we had to do it over again I would probably change the amount of time we had to shoot everything. We were on a short schedule and had to fit everything in before the night ended.
ScareTissue: Other than Volumes of Blood, what is your favorite project you’ve worked on?
Grant Niezgodski: Other than Volumes of Blood I would say that my favorite projects were Jakob Bilinski’s feature Three Tears on Bloodstained Flesh and Joe Atkinson’s Reality. Both were wonderful projects to work on and I made many friends throughout the process of filming them.
ScareTissue: What was your favorite bar at IU? (I graduated in 98 – #Hoosier4LIfe)
Grant Niezgodski: Kilroy’s has to take the cake for me. Many nights spent there.
ScareTissue: If you weren’t in film… what would you be pursuing?
Grant Niezgodski: If I was not in film or acting at all I would probably pursue a career on the marketing side of entertainment. Perhaps in a theater or with a production company.
Special thanks to Grant Niezgodski for taking the time to speak with us!
