'The Child Remains' First Creepy as Hell Trailer

Acclaimed Canadian Horror The Child Remains, Winner of 7 Best Feature Awards, premieres in Toronto at Blood in the Snow Film Festival

(Halifax, NS) Nov 17, 2017 – The Child Remains, a supernatural thriller about an expectant couple who spend a weekend at a haunted country inn that was once a macabre maternity home, has taken 7 Best Feature awards at film festivals around the globe and returns to Canada for the Blood In The Snow Canadian Film Festival at the Royal Cinema in Toronto on Saturday Nov. 25 at 9:30pm.

Winner of Best International Film at the Spooky Empire Horror Film Festival in Orlando, The Child Remains also won Best Feature Film at the Montreal Requiem Fear Fest, 5 awards at the Edmonton Festival of Fear International Film Festival including Best Feature and Audience Choice for Best Feature, Best Feature Film at the American Horrors Film Festival in Wisconsin and the Bloody Horror International Film Festival in Ottawa, as well as Best Foreign Feature at the Unrestricted View Horror Film Festival in London UK.

Lead actress Suzanne Clément won Best Actress awards in Edmonton, as well as well as at ZedFest Horror and Sci-Fi Film Festival in Los Angeles and the Anatomy Crime Horror International Film Festival in Athens, Greece.

Written, directed and co-produced by Halifax-based Michael Melski (Charlie Zone), The Child Remains is inspired by the true tale of the ‘Butterbox Babies’ and their horrific chapter in Canadian folklore. The film had its US premiere at Fear Fete in Mississippi where it was an awards nominee, and its European premiere in international competition at the Ravenna Nightmare Film Festival in Italy.

With 14 awards plus 9 nominations at 15 festivals, and critical raves since its world premiere at the Shanghai International Film Festival, The Child Remains also stars celebrated Canadian film-television star Allan Hawco (Frontier), Shelley Thompson (Trailer Park Boys) as well as Geza Kovacs (Scanners).

Melski describes The Child Remains as “The Shining meets Rosemary’s Baby in The Orphanage”, and is excited for the film’s Toronto premiere at the Blood In The Snow Canadian Film Festival, which highlights the country’s home grown horror offerings at the Royal Cinema Nov 23-26.

Produced by Craig Cameron (The Corridor) with Executive Producers David Miller of A71 Productions (He Never Died) and Marc Savoie, the film was made with assistance from Nova Scotia’s Production Incentive Fund, and Telefilm Canada.

The Child Remains is aiming for Canadian theatrical release in Spring 2018.
