About a month ago, I had the privilege to see an early cut for the film The Last Showing. The first trailer came out Saturday, and it definitely does the film justice.
It’s a brilliant psychological film starring Emily Berrington, Finn Jones, and Robert Englund. Many readers may recognize Jones from Game of Thrones and Berrington from 24: Live Another Day. Englund (who needs no introduction after haunting everybody’s nightmares for now 30 years) plays the innocuous looking villain nicely here. The official synopsis from IMDB is:
“A couple trapped in a cinema are manipulated into becoming unwilling actors in a film being captured by CCTV cameras.”
The film is directed by Phil Hawkins, and is scheduled to be released in the UK on August 22nd. (Sony acquired the rights for both US and UK distribution, but there is no official date for the US yet.)
Robert Englund had this to say about working with Phil: “The director, Phil Hawkins, is a protégé of Steven Spielberg’s, and it’s just amazing. I’ve never seen more cameras in my life. Everywhere they hid a camera: in my armpit…other orifices that shall not be mentioned. [Audience laughs]. I’m real proud of this one.” (You can read the rest of the interview HERE at the Daily Dead.)
