LOS ANGELES BASED WHOLE HEARTED PRODUCTIONS TODAY ANNOUNCES IT WILL BE FILMING A THRILLER / HORROR MOVIE IN IOWA WITH PRODUCTION SCHEDULED TO COMMENCE THIS SUMMER; STARS HOLLYWOOD ACTORS AND WILL GIVE LOCAL IOWA COMEDIAN SHOT AT STARRING ROLE

LOS ANGELES, CA / DES MOINES, IA ~ November 3rd, 2014

LA-based production company, Whole Hearted Productions, today announce a new independent thriller/ horror project “THE BURIAL

The Burial Synopsis

For Ben, home is the Iowa side of the upper Mississippi River valley. He’s returned there from college after the death of his estranged father and is tasked with burying a man he barely knew. Avoiding his responsibility, Ben takes up with Tyler, the charismatic resident lawbreaker and quickly finds himself dodging the watchful eyes of the local Deputy Sheriff. When the heat gets turned up from the pair’s increasingly illegal actions, they head down river to camp with two local girls to provide an alibi for their unlawful exploits. In the woods, they discover the burial mound of a 2,000 year old native society. When their exploits lead to grave robbing, an ancient and terrifying sickness is awakened inside them…

About The Burial

Whole Hearted Productions is casting Hollywood actors for most of the roles, but they are using a little known local Iowan as one of the film’s stars, to stay true to the keeping the characters “real looking” and build the hometown feel of the character. The role of Tyler will be played by Iowa native, Tom Garland – www.tomgarlandcomedy.com. Garland is a little known up-and-coming road comic who has been seen as a stand-up comedian on FOX TV’s regional stand-up series “One Mic Stand” and made multiple appearances on My Network TV’s “MANCOW Experience.” Garland is best known for touring with Steve-O, Tom Green and Bam Margera. He has also performed on the Las Vegas Strip at Riviera, Bally’s, Planet Hollywood, and MGM Grand. The role was also given to Garland though because Meggers wants to “give another Iowan a shot in the business.”

Jack Meggers, Writer/Director of The Burial, is a Mason City/Clear Lake, IA native and has spent the last fifteen years working in the film/television/entertainment industry in both New York City and Los Angeles. Most recently, he managed the boutique sound stage and photography studio facilities for Los Angeles based Quixote Studios where a multitude of film/TV/commercial productions and magazine/print cover photo shoots are produced along with the hit CBS TV show CRIMINAL MINDS.

Producer Kristine Hrycun is a seasoned entertainment professional. She was born and raised in rural New York, halfway between Albany and New York City in the Hudson River Valley region. After a brief stint in New York City, Hrycun moved to LA where she has been steadily working in the film and television industry for the past 20 years with such notable stars as: Tom Hanks, Sandra Bullock, Ryan Gosling, and Jamie Foxx. She started her career with Ron Howard at Imagine Entertainment, previously worked with the co-creator of the BACK TO THE FUTURE film trilogy and spent twelve years at Rob Reiner’s Castle Rock Entertainment working on such films as THE GREEN MILE, MICHAEL CLAYTON and MISS CONGENIALITY amongst over 35 other major motion pictures.

The Teaser Trailer for The Burial was shot recently at Ledges State Park and other locations in Iowa with Garland and a handful of undisclosed actors. They are still not releasing the names of the other stars. Rumors is they could be looking for other Iowa natives in the entertainment business as lead roles, but are planning to fly most the actors and crew in from Los Angeles.

I've been a fan of horror and slasher movies for as long as I can remember. I consider the original Halloween to be the best horror movie of all time and my guilty pleasure horror flick would be The Exorcist III.
