Love In The Time Of MonstersSo, did anybody happen to a catch a little film that hit VOD called Love in the Time of Monsters?  It’s the new horror comedy starring Kane HodderDoug JonesGena Shaw, and Marissa Skell.  Directed by Matt Jackson, the film looks fun and horrifying all the same time.

In 2015, TBC Films will take you on a horrifying, hilarious trip through the backwoods of the Pacific Northwest, as two sisters battle murderous, toxic-waste ravaged monsters to save the ones they love.

As children, Marla (Gena Shaw) and Carla (Marissa Skell) lost their father in a horrific accident at a roadside attraction. Fifteen years later, the girls find themselves in a similarly lethal tourist trap after Carla’s fiancé Johnny and the other costumed employees of the ultra-kitschy “Uncle Slavko’s All-American Family Lodge” are exposed to a super-cocktail of toxic waste and are transformed into primal, psychotic killers – dressed as Bigfoot.  Now, the sisters must fight to survive the night and save Johnny’s life in a jaw-dropping, spine-ripping, gut-busting, heart-warming tale of Love in the Time of Monsters.

Director’s Statement:

“I love movies. But as much as I love well-regarded, Oscar winning films, the ones I really love are those full-hearted, action-packed movies from my youth.  With healthy doses of comedy mixed between heaps of horror and drama, Love In The Time Of Monsters is a love letter to those movies I grew up with. But it’s not just a nostalgia fest; although I took cues from the past, I wanted to show the audience something it’s never quite seen before, and something that will stand out on it’s own in the crowded cinema scene. It’s been a hell of a journey -one spanning half a decade (!)- and I very much hope you enjoy watching Love In The Time Of Monsters as much as I enjoyed making it.”

Trapjaw

I love horror movies, and I have since I was young. My favorite genre is the zombie genre, but it has completely been overdone in the last few years. I'm not a big fan of the horror movie formula, and I love it when a director turns it on its head.
