by In PG: PSYCHO GOREMAN, siblings Mimi and Luke unwittingly resurrect an ancient alien overlord who was entombed on Earth millions of years ago after a failed attempt to destroy the universe. They nickname the evil creature Psycho Goreman (or PG for short) and use the magical amulet they discovered to force him to obey their childish whims. It isn’t long before PG’s reappearance draws the attention of intergalactic friends and foes from across the cosmos and a rogues’ gallery of alien combatants converges in small-town suburbia to battle for the fate of the galaxy.
Psycho Goreman – Review
Watching PG: Psycho Goreman is like watching a Power Rangers movie, if it were a Troma film, and Cronenberg adding in a touch of his style as well. There are a lot of pretty entertaining things about this movie, the first being PG himself. This movie is comedy-gorefest, with over the top effects, crazy graphics, glam-metal, lasers, and creatures who’s words don’t match their mouth movements, but those are the things that kept me watching this movie. I love the cheesy effects, the ultra-violence, and battle scenes. This sci-fi horror flick should definitely be one that people give a watch. I haven’t seen anything like it for so many years, so the 90’s nostalgia definitely kicked in.
For fans of moves with kids as the leads, you may enjoy this one. At times I found some of the acting not great, and a little over the top, but maybe that was the point. To me, some of the humor from the kids missed the mark for me, but I really found myself enjoying PG’s character the absolute most. I really looked forward to his stories from his planet, the sequences of his time there, and what led him to Earth.
