Other Halves To Film In San Francisco

Other Halves Teaser PosterWe just got word that the upcoming film Other Halves will begin filming next month in San Francisco!

If you’ve not heard of Other Halves here’s the description from the film’s Facebook page:

Other Halves is a new horror film set in the world of Silicon Valley startup culture.

A team of young coders have designed a breakthrough dating app: Other Halves. Rather than asking you to state your dating preferences, Other Halves analyzes your behavior online–from your posts on social media sites, to the games you play and the anonymous comments you make on YouTube videos–to determine who you should really be with.

The night before the app launches, however, the app users start to exhibit strange side effects: they seem to lose all self-control, becoming violent, amoral, licentious. It’s up to the team to stop the spread of the app except…

Evil is profitable.

Tech startup horror film Other Halves to film in San Francisco

San Francisco – 12/18/14Other Halves,  a new high tech horror film set in the world of Bay Area tech startups, begins filming in San Francisco starting in January. The project, from One Oh One Radio Pictures, is the feature film debut for director and co-writer Matthew T. Price, and co-writer Kelly Morr.

The film stars Lauren Lakis (Hybrids, Gun Woman) and Mercedes Manning (Strictly Sexual, Zipper) as programmers who develop a revolutionary new dating app called Other Halves. On the night before the app is set to launch, they discover it causes strange side effects: users lose all self-control, becoming amoral, lascivious, violent… evil. They consider shutting the app down, but…

Evil is profitable.

“This whole thing started when I was shooting a promo video for my friends at a coding school in San Francisco,” says director Matthew Price. “Coders are fun, interesting people to hang out with but they’re also driven and passionate about their work. A tech startup seemed like the perfect place to set an intense thriller.”

“Tech startups are traditionally masculine spaces,” says writer Kelly Morr. “We’ve written a story about a team of coders that is predominantly female. We want to challenge convention while still creating a film that is true to the entrepreneurial spirit of Silicon Valley. And, of course, we included all the fun and scares of a traditional horror film! It’s been really invigorating to work in the Bay Area–people here are very enthusiastic about a project that is so uniquely NorCal.”

The first teaser poster, featuring Lauren Lakis has just been released.

Other Halves, produced by Curt Chatham, also stars Lianna Liew (Truth Or Dare), Megan Hui (The Before Time), Melanie Friedrich (Positive: Some Doors Should Remain Closed), Sam Schweikert (Hart of Dixie), and Carson Nicely (The Conan O’Brien Show).

You can get more information about Other Halves on their website, www.OtherHalv.es. You can also follow the film on Facebook, on Twitter @OtherHalvesFilm, or Instagram @OtherHalvesFilm.

Make sure to give them a “like” and a “follow” and tell them ScareTissue sent you!

I've been a fan of horror and slasher movies for as long as I can remember. I consider the original Halloween to be the best horror movie of all time and my guilty pleasure horror flick would be The Exorcist III. You can find me on Twitter at @406Northlane where I'm sure I'll offend you at least once a day.
